Philadelphia Eagles: 2026 NFL Draft Preview
How They Got Here
The Eagles' 2024 Super Bowl hopes ended with a loss to the Chiefs. The 2025 season was supposed to be the year they finished the job, but Washington swept them in the regular season and eliminated them in the playoffs (34-27). The defense, despite Fangio's improvements, couldn't slow Jayden Daniels. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith remain elite, but the window is narrowing — Hurts turns 28 in 2026.
Team Needs
Philadelphia picks at #23 after an 11-6 season that ended with a divisional round loss to Washington (again). The Eagles remain one of the NFC's most talented rosters, but the championship window is narrowing. Jalen Hurts had another strong year (27 TDs, 9 INTs, 95.2 rating), but the defense showed cracks in the secondary that Washington exploited. Vic Fangio's aggressive scheme needs another corner, and the linebacker corps could use an upgrade.
Draft Outlook
The Eagles need secondary help. Washington exposed the corners twice, and Darius Slay is 35. Hood is the obvious target at #21 — a physical corner who can start immediately. If Hood is gone, CJ Allen addresses the linebacker need. Lemon would be an offensive luxury but makes Philly's receiving corps even more dangerous. Roseman has historically nailed late first-round picks — trust the process.
Top Prospect Fits
1. Colton Hood
An ultra-competitive corner who fits Fangio's man-heavy scheme. At 6-1, 195 lbs, Hood's toughness, ball skills, and Day 1 starter ability make him an ideal complement to the existing secondary. The Eagles got torched by Washington's receivers twice — Hood would help. Odds: +175 to go #21 (favorite).
2. CJ Allen
A plug-and-play three-down linebacker with old-school physicality. Allen's diagnostic skills are tailor-made for Fangio's defense. At 6-2, 235 lbs, he'd immediately compete for a starting spot. Odds: +200 to go #21.
3. Makai Lemon
Adding the Biletnikoff Award winner to an already loaded offense might seem like overkill, but Lemon's slot ability and 3-drop career would be devastating next to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Odds: +275 to go #21.
Draft Strategy
Howie Roseman loves to trade — expect the Eagles to move around the draft board. With an already loaded roster, they have the luxury of drafting the best player available. The secondary is the priority, but Roseman won't reach if better value exists elsewhere.
Betting Analysis
The #21 pick market favors defense. Hood leads at +175, CJ Allen at +200, Lemon at +275. The Eagles are -150 to draft a defensive player in Round 1. Hood at +175 is fairly priced — he's the best corner likely available in this range. Allen at +200 offers linebacker value. Watch for Roseman to trade — he's +125 to move from #21, always looking for value.
